Song of the Now

26 Jul

Just as I said it would be–here is Lynyrd Synyrd’s “Simple Man’. What an amazing song. Seriously has been on a repeat play list (with all of the other ‘songs of the now’) Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Runaway Train

26 Jul

I’m going to make this brief. I thought this story is fitting for the upcoming events of Seafair. This was a couple years ago, I was in college but not yet 21. But naturally “DGAF” and got wasted anyway. Seafair days consist of Mardi Gras-esque antics on the water with a break around dinner, maybe a quick catnap, then fraternity late night type partying for the rest of the night. So I was on my dinner break. I thought it’d be nice to get home to a home cooked meal, relax for a minute or two and then head out for the nights activities.

Quote of the Day

25 Jul

“Mama told me when I was young
‘Come sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say
And if you do this it will help you some sunny day’
‘Oh, take your time, don’t live too fast
Troubles will come and they will pass
You’ll find a woman and you’ll find love
And don’t forget, son, there is someone up above’
And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man
Oh, won’t you do this for me, son, if you can'”

Lynyrd Skynyrds “Simple Man” is one of my favorite songs (at least for now, will probably be posting it under “song of the now” relatively soon). I Just love the song and the lyrics are so great! So I hope you all can be a “simple kind of man and be something you love and understand”.

My Mute Friend

25 Jul

In middle school I went through this awkward phase where I wanted to be Avril Lavigne. So naturally I did everything to recreate myself as a “punk rock skater” chick. I started wearing vans, put on a heinous amount of eye liner and even straightened my already too straight hair. There was nothing cooler then a skater in my eyes. Thankfully I had a few friends who agreed with this trend and joined in on some of the ridiculous procedures to “follow it”. Continue reading

Song Of The Now

With some unfortunate events this weekend I felt this song was appropriate. Not to mention, I absolutely love Keane. Enjoy

Song(s) of the now

Counting Crow’s do it again. The album that was released in April (but just brought to my attention) is everything I expected and more. I believe they can do no wrong–and now it’s your chance to take a listen and decide for yourself! Enjoy!

It’s whats for Dinner…

15 Jul

via Cooking Light

I have always been a fan of cooking. Even though some of my previous roommates (ahem Natalie and Sam) think the only thing I can concoct is Mexican food. (Sorry I was lazy and cheap). When I’m at home I spend all of my time watching the Food Network (When I’m not watching Criminal Minds or any other crime related show) and like to think maybe one day I’ll be the Next Food Network Star. The Food Network is like porn, or I guess you can call it “Food Porn” (refer to the South Park Episode: 14, Season 14). And nothing could be further from the truth. So here’s a dish that hopefully I’ll be making tonight (or sometime in the near future), with many more delicious meals to come!

Quote of the day

12 Jul

“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.”-Steve Jobs

A brilliant man with brilliant words.

Sweet Home Mercer Island

11 Jul

Well, I finally made up my mind. In all of my indecisiveness, I made a decision. I am moving home to Seattle in 20 days! There is just something about Seattle that just keeps on bringing me back. As I mentioned in a previous post, ever since I left I wanted to go back. And after 6 or 7 years of being gone I was still not where I wanted to be. I kept making excuses as to why I should stay in LA. And finally this week it all became clear and I took the plunge! I will soon enough be a granola Seattele-ite and I couldn’t be more thrilled!

I also can’t wait for the rain. As crazy and ridiculous as that sounds all this sun has been driving me crazy!

How can you not want to live in a state that looks like this? I mean–without the rain the river would be desolate and the trees would be BROWN!

So, going back to the Wizard of Oz theme–there really is no place like home, and I can’t wait to be back at mine! See you soon Gracie, George and Mickey!

Quote of the day

11 Jul

“Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
Love the people who treat you right.
Forget about the ones who don’t.
Believe everything happens for a reason.
If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.
If it changes your life, let it.
Nobody said life would be easy.
They just promised it would be worth it.”

A few inspirational words before I go to bed. Goodnight everyone!
