The Mercer Island Beach Club (enough said)

9 Aug

ImageThere are so many images/memories that come to my mind when i think of the Mercer Island Beach club. But there are two specific memories I am about to talk about (one now and another in a part two). I will go ahead and use code names so I don’t embarrass anyone. (Well one friend in particular…and after reading this they will be thankful i did so!) So as we got older our need to sneak out became more infrequent–because now we grew some brains and decided it’d just be easier to lie to our parents. We no longer had to pretend to be in bed by 11… because our parents all thought we were sleeping out. Walla–problem solved. So in one of our many nights out on the town we enjoyed spending it at our beloved “Beach Club”. Continue reading

“Closing time… “

“…Time for you to go back to the places you will be from.” –Semisonic

As I have already expressed in a previous post I made the decision to move home. And the date of departure is approaching pretty quickly. This decision was a long time coming and now that I finally made up my mind I feel like I can step back and finally relax. I haven’t been this happy in a while. But that doesn’t mean in the slightest that I am not sad. I am so sad to leave the amazing friends I have reconnected with as well as the ones I’ve made. Which, they’ve all been ABSOLUTELY amazing.

Auntie Em–There’s no place like home.

An aerial view of Bellevue, Mercer Island and Seattle.

Nothing like an impromptu trip home to make you appreciate it’s beauty. There truly is no place more beautiful then Seattle (in the summer). All throughout high school I was that teenager who had nothing but negative things to say about their hometown. “I hate it here.” “Everyone sucks.” “I can’t wait to leave and go to college.” I guess it goes without saying “You don’t know what you got til it’s gone” because the minute I got out of Seattle, the only thing I wanted was to come back.Which is why it’s funny I ended up in Los Angeles. My five years at college (yes, I did a victory lap… I wasn’t ready to leave) I kept telling my friends and peers that no matter what happens come graduation day, I am moving back to Seattle. Well, WALLA! Graduation day came and passed–and I am still not where I thought I would be. Don’t get me wrong, LA is gorgeous. The beaches, the men… but that’s as far as LA’s beauty goes. A run in with the FBI

28 Jun

So it should come as no surprise to anyone that growing up i was a trouble maker. In fact, some might even go as far to say that is an understatement. I definitely put my parents through hell and back. So this next story, too, should come as no surprise. My run in with the FBI when I was 12.

I can say with 100% certainty that I was just a bystander to this awful debacle. Yet some how I was seen as an accomplice. It all dates back to the beginning of middle school, when our very own entrepreneur, Marc David, started selling candy and soda out of his locker. He was the go to for all the goods. You wanted a snickers during class period, or even something as crazy as fun dips, Marc was the “dealer”. It was only a matter of time when this little grocery store of his would truly turn illegal.
